Update

To all those of you who prayed for me today, thank you so much. It was a small victory, but a victory nonetheless.

Instead of returning Kyle Sunday night on the weekends I have him, I can now keep him for the night and bring him to school Monday morning. I'm not restricted to San Diego county anymore and I can travel freely with Kyle within southern California, so that's great. Jenna, you're going to see a lot more of Kyle now.

In addition, a review hearing is set in 3 months when I will most likely get joint legal custody and an additional overnight with Kyle. It's a slow process, but things are getting better. I'm hoping to end up with joint physical custody as well.

The whole thing was a little unnerving as the local news was there following us around with a camera and set up the courtroom too. I didn't watch the broadcast last night, but I read the transcript on their website and as expected, they spun it to look like it was a negative outcome for me by reporting on old news.

So if you saw that and were concerned, rest assured that it was a positive outcome. Thanks again for your prayers, I really did feel them and I'm so grateful I came out of yesterday ahead.

Tomorrow is the big day. I'll be in court at 9:00am. So if you see this, thanks for shooting up a prayer for me.

Cheeseball

I'm putting 8 hours in at the office by myself just so I can get paid for yesterday and I'm bored. It's the Friday between Thanksgiving and the weekend, so there's not a soul stirring around here but my own.

It's 4:00pm and since 9:00am I've answered 5 phone calls, 3 of which were a screeching fax machine, signed for a package and let in the FedEx guy. I let him out too.

I know this is late and I'm a blatant copycat, but here's my Thanksgiving post. I'm thankful for good coffee and the huge window next to my desk that lets in the afternoon sun. I'm thankful for Polka for the People and the great speakers on my machine.

I'm thankful for the tasty food last night and pumpkin martinis. I'm thankful that I've learned not to mix pumpkin martinis with Newcastle and Cabernet. I'm thankful for my friends, family and for life. He's been too good to me and I have no complaints.

Eating Crow

I called the carpet cleaner a thief. He wasn't a thief. I found my camera. Well, Jer found my camera.

I considered not saying anything, but then realized I couldn't post pictures without everyone knowing. Besides, I felt badly for defaming the carpet guy.

But the fact that he tried to rip me off $25 still stands.

Lady Killers

I recently did a temp job for a big medical supply manufacturing company in San Diego. I was asked to dress professionally, so I suffered my feet to wear these. If I had known I'd be on my feet all day filing I would have worn crocs with my pants suit. Whoever designed these shoes is a sadist and hates women. I had the mutilated feet to prove it.

But I have to admit they look hot.

Thieving Carpet Cleaner

Along with everyone else in SoCal/Texas/Mexico/Etc., we just got back from Jason/Clara's, Andrew/Liz's double wedding in Baja. We spent 3 days down there and took a much needed vacation.

The wedding was beautiful, and both couples looked amazing and surprisingly happy and serene considering the 150 plus guest wedding they were hosting. My only complaint was the cold.

I wish I had some pictures, but I had a carpet cleaner come by the other day and he stole my camera. I called the company and asked for their $40 deal for 2 rooms. The operator told me it would cost an extra 30 cents per square foot for very soiled areas. I figured 10 extra bucks should do it.

The cleaner showed up 3 hours late and before he started he showed me the invoice with an extra $25 tacked onto it for the "30 cents per square foot extra cleaning", a total of $65. I told him it was way more than we expected so I had to call my boyfriend and talk to him. He immediately said, "ok, only 60 dollars and no tax, ....great deal". I told him I would still have to call and he said "ok, 50 dollars only. No tax." He went down $15 in under a minute. Sleaze ball. I should have taken the hint.

$10 extra wasn't so bad so I paid for it, but I had to run out the door so I left him my house key to lock up, hid the cash and told him to help himself to bananas. When I got home my camera was gone from a room he didn't even clean. I guess he ended up taking that extra $25 and more after all.

I wanted a new camera anyway, so here's a push to get one. Until then, I'll be bumming pictures off of everyone else and cleaning the carpets myself.
