My current favorite poem

This poem had to be written by someone who had gone through hell and back and gained something very precious. There's no other way something so beautiful could be expressed so perfectly. If things seem a bit dark right now and you're waiting for the sun to shine again, this one is for you...

O Love that wilt not let me go,
I rest my weary soul in thee;
I give thee back the life I owe,
That in thine ocean depths its flow
May richer, fuller be.

O light that followest all my way,
I yield my flickering torch to thee;
My heart restores its borrowed ray,
That in thy sunshine’s blaze its day
May brighter, fairer be.

O Joy that seekest me through pain,
I cannot close my heart to thee;
I trace the rainbow through the rain,
And feel the promise is not vain,
That morn shall tearless be.

O Cross that liftest up my head,
I dare not ask to fly from thee;
I lay in dust life’s glory dead,
And from the ground there blossoms red
Life that shall endless be.

To all parents...

What do you do when your 5 year old asks you daily when his birthday is and asks, no begs, you to bring it sooner? I have explained so many times that birthdays come once a year, but no, somehow Mommy has magical power that can make birthdays happen sooner and all one must do is beg and plead incessantly.

I think because Kyle's birthday is in December and everything happens in one month for him, a year just seems like such a long wait. The other day I got some reprieve when I convinced him that his birthday was extra special because after all the other kids have their birthdays, he gets to have his! Somehow that sounded better than telling him that he had to wait till all the other kids have their birthdays till his comes around.

Anyway, that worked for a couple days and he was satisfied, but now all of a sudden, Mommy has magical power to make all the other kids have their birthdays sooner so he can have his. I guess since there are more birthdays to consider, the begging and pleading must be intensified.

Someone help. Any ideas?
