I know hopping down to Baja is pretty regular for a lot of you, but because I rarely do and never for longer than a night, I thought it was pretty swell to be able to stay for 5 days. I chronicled my trip by taking a few pics of some of the things I did and saw. For what it's worth...

This is the view from my room. Having an ocean front view was terrific, but with it came a feeling of incarceration. No idea why.

I ran 25 miles. Not all in one day of course. ;)

Cooked a few meals.

There is no dishwasher there, so revisited the good old days of washing every dish by hand. Next time I'll bring gloves.

Hung out with some great people who I miss already. I love you guys!

Like Magic

Here's a good "before and after" for you.

Before I organized the pantry...

After I organized the pantry...

I dealt with a dead mouse, lots of mouse poo, cockroaches and spiders. But other than that it was fun... like working magic.

Only people with that innate desire to organize would understand.

My Baby

I miss him.

Playing the Chef

Kyle's with his dad for the week doing some camping, so I'm down in Baja for the week playing the cook, which is silly as my culinary skills are average at best. The rest of my family are all amazing cooks, but that gene just got lost in me somewhere along the way. Although I did make a mean lasagna last night and the baked chicken tonight turned out pretty good. Must be the beach air that makes everything taste good, because it sure isn't me.

I always thought I didn't like to cook and then today while leisurely cooking dinner and looking out the window that opens out to the beach, I realized something. I do like to cook, I just don't like the pressure that comes with cooking in a family home. I hate having an hour and a half to cook for 25 people and trying to make food taste good in such a short amount of time. I'm just not cut out for it.

But down here, I can start dinner a good two hours ahead and take my time, cut the veggies all special, marinade everything, slow cook everything and wow, ...it actually tastes ok! Still doesn't make me a good family cook, but give me the time, the beach, the sun, a fully stocked kitchen and I'll give you a damn good dinner.

Hidden Messages in Water

The complexity of nature never ceases to amaze me. I was recently reminded of a book I read a while ago called Hidden Messages in Water. It is by the Japanese scientist Masaru Emoto who photographed water crystals formed in frozen water and the shapes they take when concentrated thoughts are directed at them.

Water exposed to good thoughts create beautiful, complex, colorful, snowflake shaped crystals. Water that is exposed to negative thoughts create ugly, dull and misshapen patterns. Dr. Emoto's findings show that our thoughts and feelings directly affect our physical surrounding. We all knew that already, but it's cool to see it photographed.

If our bodies are about 70% water, what can our thoughts do to us, or to others? Here's a link if you want to read more...

A huge thank you!

Thank you so much everyone for your prayers for Kyle, we really feel them. He's doing alot better. The symptoms of HSP are supposed to last a month, but I doubt he'll have them past next week as he's getting better so fast. Many, many thanks to everyone who said a prayer for Kyle. Love you!
